Team Coaching
We often hear from teams that they are efficient, communicate well, and make good and sound business decisions. But what we learn through observation is that under the surface, many team members feel they are unable to effectively address their concerns, feel they are not heard, are unable to engage in conflict, do not believe the team communicates clearly, or have the ability to engage in difficult conversations due to lack of trust or repercussion. In coaching teams, it is often useful to engage in individual coaching along with working within the team system – after all, the team members have to be whole in order for the team to become whole.
Make sure that team members know they are working with you, not for you.
–John Wooden
The derailer for many teams is typically in the relationships which exist in the team system, and the conscious or subconscious expectations (stories) that each team member carries into the team system. If the acceptable dynamic is to compete with one another, then little trust will be established among members for fear that any knowledge could be used against them. How effective can this dynamic possibly be in solving critical business issues?
Any management team, newly formed or experienced who are seeking higher levels of competence, collaboration or effectiveness can benefit substantially from a customized coaching relationship.
The TRANSFORM COACHING solution offers customized leadership development processes that meet two goals: help senior leadership team members build a stronger and more impactful team dynamic through enhanced trust relationships with each other, and help each leader become more skillful in developing their direct reports. We work with teams to help them understand their individual and group dynamics, and become a more impactful and effectual team system by helping them:
- define their purpose and priorities
- understand their environment
- identify and tackle barriers to performance
- build a cohesive and integrated team learning plan
- grow confidence in themselves and their leader
- develop the systems, skills and behaviors to internalize coaching
